Sparkcycle - Libery
K2Design | San Diego, CA | Completed 2016 | Commercial Interior Design Services
The Sparkcycle team came to us in 2017 to help design their second studio in the San Diego area. Their first location was in La Jolla, but their expansion and new headquarter space was to be located in the Liberty Station area amongst the boutique style coffee shops, craft restaurants and lively urban style market. The unique layout of Liberty Station with its surrounding green spaces and converted barracks influenced how they wanted this space to differ from their original location in the lower/basement level of the office building in La Jolla.
However regardless of location, the focus of the design was to be all about the experience of being at the studio; the time on the bike. The amenity spaces around the studio, the reception, locker area, retail space and restrooms are designed to augment, rather than compete with the true purpose of the space: the spin studio.
The goal was to create a space that facilitated the Sparkcycle brand of providing the perfect ride for every user. Their method includes delivering classes with high energy, best-in–class bikes, high quality audio, LED lighting, and small luxuries such as post-workout chilled eucalyptus towels and stadium risers.
Sparkcycle wanted the spin studio to feel clean, inviting, young and fresh. For this reason we chose to highlight the bold Sparkcycle red bolt brand logo, and specified a very minimal, white interior. All of the finishes, including the bathroom design were white, with a medium tone gray wood vinyl plank floor specifically designed for fitness and durability.
